What's up with me?

Childrens album to be released on May 27th

                                                 cover by Håkon Hoffart

Meg og kammeraten min (Me & my buddy) will be releasing our new album on May 27th. We have done the album with a great rock band lead by Amund Maarud and have also used an excellent girls choir Det norske jentekor on several of the tracks. Other notable contributions come from Knut Reiersrud, Lars Horntveth, Mathias Eick, Tuva Syvertsen and Martin Horntveth.

I really get a kick out of performing for kids and have as of now fazed out other aspects of my career...For info on upcoming shows etc go here

Me and my buddy-Meg og kammeraten min!

I have spent the last year working almost exclusively on my norwegian language children’s project; Meg og kammeraten min (Me & My Buddy)

Last year we released an album on Friday the 13th of February, not a smart move as my buddy, Gebhardt chose to leave the project shortly thereafter, superstition?! Anyhow the album got some excellent reviews and I called in another buddy Erik Johannessen who also plays in my solo band and asked him to join forces, a gentleman if there ever was one and an excellent musician, composer and arranger. He also  plays trombone in the brilliant  Jaga Jazzist. We have tweaked our live shows, swapped the banjo with the trombone the zither harp with electric lo-fi xylophone and the results have been extremely inspiring. So inspired that we’ve just finished a new album to be released in May. Ostepop has been nominated for a norwegian grammy, fingers crossed, but as always I feel the latest album is better!

Happy New Year & in the New York Times!

I'm an environmentalist, I always have been and at times it shows up in my lyrics as in Looking For An Island, Athabasca, Company Oil, I Need To Know etc.
I'm active in a group in Norway that advocates against accepting sponsorship from oil companies and was quoted in an article that the NYT wrote.

“Basically, you’re a billboard for an oil company,” Martin Hagfors, a musician, said in an interview in his studio in Oslo’s lively Gronland district. “And if you have any sense that we need to change direction, you can’t be a billboard for an oil company.”

Anyhow, let's start taking global warming more seriously and I wish we could spend as much money fighting a war for our planet as we do fighting the so called war on terror...

November Tour-Norway & Italy

Hello!

I've been finishing up a new children's album this fall and now that's it's going into production next week I can look forward to a month of touring, first in Norway, both solo, and with my excellent band, then down to Italy to do a few shows with my friends in C+C Maxigross and promote our collaboration EP.

Live is good!

The first review is great!

Producers Politics Passion

My first review just ticked in from "Dagsavisen" the old Norwegian labor paper.

And it's great! if you can't understand Norwegian, try google translate, it will most likely be entertaining!

or check out the NTB interview that went out to 20-30 papers

Quotes by Martin

Ok my mind is made up, now I'll do my face

I'm so well off I don't want to be on anymore

It's now or never all over again

Keep biking, you ride and can't drive yourself crazy. Just a thought.

I've got the bucket in my line of sight but not quite dead yet

I have made up my mind and the my answer is maybe

Half the time I don't know what's going on, the rest is behind me

If you keep on looking back you'll lose sight of what's ahead

I can't remember signing up for today

The deeper the dirt the thicker the skin

Being five minutes late doesn't buy you time

I wish that was funny, I wish everything was funny

I had no idea I was using my brain

Being negative gives me great pleasure and makes me laugh

Before there were bridges, water still ran under them
